On Saturday, November 3rd, 2012
a Concordant between the Evangelical Catholic Church and the United
States Old Catholic Church will be signed by the Most Reverend James
Long, Archbishop for the United States Old Catholic Church and the
Most Reverend James Alan Wilkowski, Presiding Bishop for the
Evangelical Catholic Church in Chicago.
The “Called to Shared Journey Concordant” is a formal recognition
between the two ecclesial jurisdictions of Orders and a commitment
of mutual pastoral support in their common goal of sacramental
ministry. This Concordant will elevate the United States Old
Catholic Church’s Saint John the Evangelist Seminary as a consortium
between the two jurisdictions.
This Concordant, a first within the greater
sphere of the Autocephalous Catholic Movement, marks a quantum step
forward in the pursuit of ongoing formational, spiritual and
professional growth to meet the pastoral and sacramental needs of
the People of God.
The signing of the Concordant will take place at 3:00 PM in the
Elizabethan Room of the Atonement Pastoral Center, 5749 North
Kenmore Avenue, Chicago Illinois 60660.
